- Why We stopped having golf course running events in 2016.To put it simply: LinksRun is a proven concept...that hasn't met its time yet. 'Yet' - is the important word, because we can't wait to bring LinksRun back in a big way!If you're a past participant, a golf course operator, or someone interested in running on perfectly manicured golf grass (instead of hard pavement), we want to reach out to you when the time comes to relaunch LinksRun!Leave your name, email address, and where you'd like to see LinksRun host an event, and we will notify you when we have updates on future plans and events. Thank you!
Thanks for signing up, and in the meantime, you can support LinksRun by going to play golf!
- 2016 Winter Series Event #2Cypresswood Golf ClubSpring, TxFebruary 13, 2016Results
- Course DescriptionCypresswood Golf Club is a 36-hole facility that will offer runners dramatic topography nestled within the native forest of North Houston. Situated on over 600 acres of rolling, heavily wooded terrain along the confluence of Spring and Cypress creeks, the second and fourth events of the 2016 Winter Series will take place on the 18-hole Cypress Course. The Cypress course boasts expansive views across the entire property. The front 9 loops around the outer edge of the property, while the back 9 traverses the inner portion of the landscape, filled with lakes, creeks, gentle hills, and slopes. As usual, the event will start and finish on the Cypress driving range. Runners will begin by running down the length of the driving range until they reach Hole #1. The water station will first be passed on a bridge crossing on Hole #4, about halfway through into the 5k race. While a majority of the route will cover the fairways, there are brief, pleasant runs through the trees. After crowning a rise behind Hole #9, 5k runners will pass by the Green @ The Finish Line post-race restaurant and farmer's market, and be directed to make their way back down the cart path to the driving range, and the finish line for all 5k participants. Be sure to head back to Green @ The Finish Line for great food and drink! All 10k participants will swing around the tee box area on Hole #10, and embark on the back 9 inner loop. The same water station will again be passed on the left side of Hole #15 fairway. After circumnavigating the lake bordering the right side of Hole #17 runners will take dead aim down Hole #18, before swinging back by Green @ The Finish Line, and being directed back to the driving range, and the finish line for all 10k participants. Don't forget to join the 5k'rs at Green @ The Finish Line!Important Course Notes*

- Course DescriptionMeadowbrook Farms Golf Club, a masterfully designed Greg Norman golf course, is nestled among a multitude of hardwood trees, creeks, lakes, and wetlands terrain, framed pleasantly by true native prairie grasses and wildflowers found in Katy, Tx. Meadowbrook is a links-style golf course located within a suburban community. What the terrain lacks in challenge or technicality, it more than makes up for with the surrounding beauty. The absence of any significant elevation, in combination with the firmer ground, will most likely produce the fastest race results of the series. Hang on to your water bottles! As is customary, the race will kick off on the driving range, located right next to the main parking lot in front of the Meadowbrook Farms clubhouse. All participants begin by running around and behind the clubhouse and practice putting green as they make their way down the 9th hole to start.LinksRun prefers to route our race courses along the actual route of the golf course, starting with Hole 1 and finishing with Hole 18. We want everyone to get a sense of what it's like to play a round of golf. In the case of Meadowbrook Farms, due to the bayou traversing the middle of the property, the number of bridges that would be crossed to maintain the proper golf course routing dictated that the easiest route to create would be one that minimizes the number of bridge crossings. With that in mind, the race course starts backwards down the 9th hole, follows the bayou for one more hole, the Par 3 8th, before turning left and rejoining the normal flow of the golf course at Hole 3. The first Aid Station will be located near the green on the Par 5 4th Hole. Participants will run past the scenic 7th green and complete the final 2 holes of the front 9, Hole 2 and Hole 1, reversing the normal flow to close out the front 9.All runners will cross the bridge leading back to the clubhouse and driving range, where 5k participants will run behind the 18th green and down a short path leading to the start/finish line on the driving range. It is here behind the 18th green that the 10k/20k extension splits off and turns down the fairway of the 18th hole, moving backwards down the fairway, and across a bridge towards the tee box.Runners will then cross Gaston Rd, (where we will have a safety volunteer / police officer stopping traffic) to the back portion of the property, following the forward route of the golf course on the 11th hole. While the majority of the race route will be along the fairways on the back 9, the property does present opportunities to run through several clusters of trees partially lining Holes 12-14.After a 7-hole loop, runners will cross Gaston Rd once again and make their way through the trees on both sides of the 10th Hole, finally emerging on the 18th fairway. It's straight to the finish line from here, where 10k participants will finish their race. All 20k participants will run through the finish line and back around the outside of the gating to complete the full loop one more time.Important Course Notes*
- ALL PARTICIPANTS begin by running the 5k Course (yellow arrows).
- 10k/20k PARTICIPANTS will splitoff just after mile marker 3 and begin the '10k Extension' (blue arrows)
- 20k PARTICIPANTS will complete the entire course and repeat a second time.

- Course DescriptionThe race will begin and end on the driving range at Shadow Glen Golf Club. (range balls are free!) Participants will follow the cart path up the hill, across Lexington St, and down the cart path running beside the teeing grounds of the 1st hole. From here, the course darts onto the fairway where runners will enjoy the manicured grass underfoot for a majority of the first 9 holes. As the course reaches Holes 4 through 7, participants will encounter the property's most undulating terrain, forcing a series of uphill climbs (and downhill breathers), culminating with the most difficult section of the course we've dubbed the "Stairway to Seven".Due to the forced carries presented on the tee shots of both Hole 8 and Hole 9, the final stretch of the front 9 will primarily follow the cart path along those holes, until crossing Lexington St. and heading back toward the driving range, and the finish line for all 5k participants.10k and 20k participants will be diverted away from the driving range down a short dirt path, and alongside the teeing grounds of Hole 10. The back 9 is located on the flatter portion of the property, so in the absence of elevation, we have introduced challenge in several other ways. The first is by routing the course through trees lining the fairways on several holes throughout the back 9.The course will also feature several 'pivot points', or sharp turns that happen mid-way through a hole around bunker complexes or stands of trees. Runners will also loop almost entirely around around several greens, forcing the navigation of technical sidehill lies as the green complexes tilt down toward the water (example above). After one last pivot around the bunkers guarding the right side of the final fairway, runners will leap over a narrow rock bed that crosses in front of the 18th green, and head back down the path to the driving range, and the finish line for 10k participants. All 20k participants will cross under the start/finish arch on the driving range and make one more full loop around the course.Important Course Notes*

- Course DescriptionThe race will begin and end on the Battleground driving range, located across Georgia Ave. from the main clubhouse and parking lot. (range balls are free!) All participants will start their run by taking a lap around the outside of the driving range on Battleground's unique 3-hole practice loop, which includes a Par 3, Par 4, and Par 5. (play all day for $9!!)From here runners will cross under Georgia Ave through a concrete tunnel and make their way around the parking lot toward the 1st tee box area located behind the main clubhouse. After crossing the property's signature bridge (above), participants will embark on a beautiful run around 6 of the first 9 holes, mostly on fairways, before crossing back under the tunnel to track the final 3 holes of the front 9. At this point the 5k participants will turn and make their way to the finish line back at the driving range.10k and 20k participants will splitoff, crossing under Georgia Ave once again, and retracing their steps back to the 1st tee box area behind the main clubhouse. After a quick loop around the front of the 18th green, runners will pass by the tee boxes on Hole 10 and begin their trek around the final 9 holes. The back 9 will feature a more technical-oriented version of the front 9, with much of the course weaving through the trees lining the fairways that predominantly run side-by-side. After breaking out of the trees onto 18 fairway, runners will be greeted with the property's most picturesque view (above), before crossing the signature bridge, heading through the tunnel, and turning back toward the driving range, and the finish line for all 10k participants. Those running the 20k will pass through the start/finish arch on the driving range and make one more full loop around the golf course.Important Course Notes*
