Course Description
Meadowbrook Farms Golf Club, a masterfully designed Greg Norman golf course, is nestled among a multitude of hardwood trees, creeks, lakes, and wetlands terrain, framed pleasantly by true native prairie grasses and wildflowers found in Katy, Tx. Meadowbrook is a links-style golf course located within a suburban community. What the terrain lacks in challenge or technicality, it more than makes up for with the surrounding beauty. The absence of any significant elevation, in combination with the firmer ground, will most likely produce the fastest race results of the series. Hang on to your water bottles!
As is customary, the race will kick off on the driving range, located right next to the main parking lot in front of the Meadowbrook Farms clubhouse. All participants begin by running around and behind the clubhouse and practice putting green as they make their way down the 9th hole to start.
LinksRun prefers to route our race courses along the actual route of the golf course, starting with Hole 1 and finishing with Hole 18. We want everyone to get a sense of what it's like to play a round of golf. In the case of Meadowbrook Farms, due to the bayou traversing the middle of the property, the number of bridges that would be crossed to maintain the proper golf course routing dictated that the easiest route to create would be one that minimizes the number of bridge crossings.
With that in mind, the race course starts backwards down the 9th hole, follows the bayou for one more hole, the Par 3 8th, before turning left and rejoining the normal flow of the golf course at Hole 3. The first Aid Station will be located near the green on the Par 5 4th Hole. Participants will run past the scenic 7th green and complete the final 2 holes of the front 9, Hole 2 and Hole 1, reversing the normal flow to close out the front 9.
All runners will cross the bridge leading back to the clubhouse and driving range, where 5k participants will run behind the 18th green and down a short path leading to the start/finish line on the driving range. It is here behind the 18th green that the 10k/20k extension splits off and turns down the fairway of the 18th hole, moving backwards down the fairway, and across a bridge towards the tee box.
Runners will then cross Gaston Rd, (where we will have a safety volunteer / police officer stopping traffic) to the back portion of the property, following the forward route of the golf course on the 11th hole. While the majority of the race route will be along the fairways on the back 9, the property does present opportunities to run through several clusters of trees partially lining Holes 12-14.
After a 7-hole loop, runners will cross Gaston Rd once again and make their way through the trees on both sides of the 10th Hole, finally emerging on the 18th fairway. It's straight to the finish line from here, where 10k participants will finish their race. All 20k participants will run through the finish line and back around the outside of the gating to complete the full loop one more time.
